In the 19th century the site saw the construction of a magnificent Venetian baroque palace for the influential Martinis-Marchi family, inaugurated in 1868. Originating from Bol, the legacy of this family is deeply woven into the historical and cultural fabric of central Dalmatia from the early 17th to the end of the 19th century
Royal accolade
In April 1875, during his tour through Dalmatia, Emperor Franz Joseph I dined at the Martinis-Marchi palace, and greatly admired the beauty of its sprawling, classically landscaped gardens, admitting it was more beautiful than his own, in Schönbrunn. He remarked on the warm and spectacular welcome he received, praising Bol wine as the best in Dalmatia

After World War II, the palace was replaced with a typical Yugoslav worker resort, for employees of the Yugoslav railways. As a state-subsidized holiday retreat, it brought together working class families from the entire country, allowing them to enjoy all the benefits of a tranquil seaside vacation
21st century evolution
In the late 1990s the resort transitioned into Hotel Park, named after its celebrated gardens. As a familiar landmark in the heart of Bol, it continued to symbolize the island’s tradition of warm hospitality and relaxed Mediterranean way of life
